“The true Christian is like sandalwood which imparts its fragrance to the axe which cuts it, without doing any harm in return.” -Sadu Sundar Singh

If you’ve had a chance to listen to any of the lifestyle coaches these days, people with high platforms like Dr. Oz, Oprah, Dr. Phil and others, they will all tell you to forgive. And forgiving really is God’s basic design so that you and I can live in freedom in this fallen world. I want to give you three tips on how you can approach forgiving those who have offended you, both for now and in the future.

  1. Remember that forgiveness is not natural, but it’s supernatural, so start off by asking God for His supernatural power.
  2. The key to forgiving others is realizing that you yourself have received forgiveness. Jesus said, “Freely you have received so freely give.”
  3. Forgiveness is not a position of weakness but it is a position of freedom. Go for it!

At Prayercentral, we released a devotional last year that’s formed from a booklet I wrote several years ago, called, “Journey of Forgiveness.” It’s been reformatted into a daily devotional work and it’s available for free. If you know somebody who needs it, get them plugged in. It’s really good material and the Holy Spirit will move through it to help you really find that key of release and freedom in Him because there is none like the Lord our God, the Wonderful Counselor, the Prince of Peace, Emmanuel – God with us
