As I pray about the beginning of a new year, this is what the Lord put on my heart: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship” (Romans 12:1).
At the beginning of each New Year, I really don’t think that it’s about making resolutions, but each new year is about a year of dedication and revelation. God is saying, “Offer your body – physically, mentally, and emotionally,” as a living sacrifice to Him.
As we do this, I believe He is saying to us, “I have new things for you. Draw near to Me. There will be new growth and fruit in old gardens. And there will be growth and fruit in new gardens of focus. This will not be accomplished according to your capacity, but this will come about as you yield your capacity into My care, compassion, and empowering. Lean back into Me before you run forward with me, and new things will spring forth.”
I love that “new growth and fruit in old gardens”…very encouraging!
Great perspective on this new year…and the beginning of any new endeavor!
Thank you…
Thank you for this reminder that God is the same whether He is doing a new thing or breaking up fallow ground that once was invigorated by Him and that He is totally reliable and capable of doing what needs to be done in me.
