We all wrestle with it. ANGER.

What makes you angry? Someone doesn’t keep their word, delays, disappointments, injustice, rude behavior, greed, disrespect, pain
… you can fill in the blank!

This morning my hand wasn’t in the right alignment while I was typing on my keyboard. Even though it was only one small key off, the position made every word come out wrong. That can be the same with you and me and anger. We may be legitimately angry, but out of alignment with God.

Where should anger take us?
  1. Be angry and sin not. (Ephesians 4:26) It’s okay to be angry, but align yourself with God, not the anger. What if the Lord wanted you to pray for the person who cut you off in traffic? God will help you sort out the source of your anger and the solutions.
  2. This is hard but true: The anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. (James 1:20)  Your anger cannot fix anything for God or anyone else on its own.
  3. Anger is expensive. It can cause you to lose relationships, property, opportunities, health etc. Be alert and avoid paying a price you weren’t planning on.
  4. Be angry…  then forgive, put your hand over your mouth, take a walk, and ask God what you can do. Weigh in with the Lord about the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23, and identify what qualities you’d like to grow in place of your anger.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

The world is getting darker, my friends. Let us walk in the light as He is in the light. (1 John 1:7)
