Intro:

In order to confront the enemy safely and effectively, you must have a clean heart. When you come into the presence of the Lord with your requests, you need to first put aside all personal sin. The scriptures say, “If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” -Psalms 66:18 Therefore your first step in confronting the enemy is to resist personal temptation. Let’s see what God’s word says about it.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for Your promise that if I confess my sin, You are faithful to cleanse me. Father I have many struggles but right now I want to confess my sins of anger. Sometimes I hold on to bitterness and critical thoughts, and I speak harsh things against those who have angered me. I am sorry Lord, I know that unforgiveness is not a part of Your plan. Jesus, I choose to forgive those who have hurt me. (take time here to repent from any unforgiveness that you have towards anyone).

Lord, guard me from this sin. Help me be alert to temptation and show me the way of escape. Place a shield over my heart and a guard over my mouth, so that I might not sin against You.

Scripture:
Psalms 101:3 “I will set no worthless thing before my eyes”

Psalms 34:13 “Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.”

Psalms 141:3 “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, … will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.”

Mark 14:38 “Keep watching and praying, that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matthew 6:13 “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”

1 Corinthians 15:34 “Become sober-minded as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I speak [this] to your shame.”
