Jesus gave you and I authority over the powers of evil in order to conduct His kingdom, both in our lives and through our lives, to others. He said, “I give you authority” (Matthew 10:1). It’s all through the gospels and the book of Acts as well: to drive out evil spirits, to heal every disease and sickness. It’s there so we can get the job done! It’s there so you and I stay free and so that we can see others be set free. That authority is to be used to rebuke, bind, and resist demonic designs, lies, and strategies.

A friend of mine in India came from a very privileged background. He was basically accustomed to being waited on hand and foot, and so when he shifted out of his mother’s household into his new household with his wife, he was just spoiled and he would go off on a rage, even over small things. So one day his wife just walked up to him and looked him straight in the eyes and said, “In Jesus’ name, I rebuke you, Satan.” Well, she wasn’t talking to her husband and she wasn’t dealing with him — she was dealing with the spirit forces that were influencing him. And he said, “I can’t explain this, but after that I never went into another rage again.”

I’m not suggesting that you do this, I’m just telling it as a story to encourage your faith. When we interface and use our authority in the spiritual realm, things change.

“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God so when the day of evil comes, you may stand your ground and after you have done everything, stand  firm.”
