“Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open to you.” –Matthew 7:7
Today’s Word:
The word today is: Ask, seek, and knock!
Ask is what you and I do with our mouth. The Bible tells us again and again to make your voice heard before God. In the Greek, the word “ask” means; “to desire, to beg, require, crave, call for it.” In the book of James it says, “The heartfelt prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.” (James 5:16)
Seek is what we do with our eyes. It’s keeping alert, it’s being aware because we’ve prayed. We are ready for the answer, and we’re looking for it. The same way if we get a message that the UPS truck is bringing us a package. We are looking for the truck, we are listening, we are paying attention to the door, the doorbell, the knock. Seek with your eyes.
Knock is what we do with our hands. It’s being ready to do whatever the Lord says. We’re going to jump in and we’re going get involved. We’re going to apply some effort and energy. When the wine ran out at the wedding feast, and the servants went to Jesus’ mother and explained the dilemma to her, she said in John 2:5, “Whatever He says to you, do it!”
The promise is clear, the pattern is simple. The word of the Lord to you and I today is; “Just go for it! Jump in! Do it! And you will see it fulfilled. The door will be opened to you.”
Scripture:
“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” -Luke 11:10-14
