I find this season encouraging after winter’s dreary months. Flowers in every color and trees dancing in every shade of green. And that might be why I’m busy stirring up the gift of God within me. I realized I had allowed things to simmer down. And that happened because a lot of other things were demanding my attention.
So while spring is shouting the message of NEW LIFE, I am inviting YOU to remember the Apostle Paul’s words to Timothy, “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God which is in you…” 2 Timothy 1:6
Would you like to join me? Go ahead and look over this list of spiritual gifts and take note of what you have.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11:
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
For me it’s the gift of prophecy. So I asked the Lord, “who do You want to bless and what do You want to say?” It happened immediately. I have a friend who is walking her husband through some steep health issues. I sent her a brief text message sharing God’s heart for her. She was surprised and said, “I receive this word of life. It is a true word.”
Remember, it can be any of those spiritual gifts, as well as baking someone a pie. (Pies count!) A bag of groceries. An offer to do a household chore for someone. Saying, “God bless you,” then praying for that person later while you’re on the way to the next thing.
This releases hope.
Let’s fan our gift into a flame and get busy blessing others. You are made for this.
In His love and mine,
