When was the last time that you resisted the devil? James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” You know what? Sometimes we do the first part and we submit to God but we slack off when it comes to doing the second part: resist! This means to set yourself against, to withstand, to oppose. You may ask, “But then how do I know when it’s the devil?” Well, here is what the Bible says, “The devil is the accuser of the brethren and of God. He comes to kill, steal, destroy, he is a liar and he is a tempter.”

So let’s go ahead and resist the enemy together right now in this prayer:

Lord, I submit to you now in Jesus’ name. I submit to Your will, to Your ways and to Your wisdom, and now according to Your Word, I resist the devil in Jesus’ name. I stand against the accuser with an attitude of forgiveness and prayerfulness towards those who have offended me. I stand against every way in which the enemy is trying to kill, steal and destroy me, my family, and my loved ones, in Jesus’ name. I resist all forms of darkness and do not allow the enemy any access. I declare Your words Jesus, because You came that I may have life and have it to the full. I thank You Lord for Your unfailing love, that You are a sun and a shield, that no good thing do You withhold from those who walk uprightly. In Your holy name, Lord Jesus. Amen.
