A good devotional can help strengthen the way you apply the Bible in real life. I’ve been reading through two devotionals, both are good.
Both of the devotionals I am reading are also old. One was printed 52 years ago and the other was printed 25 years ago. This isn’t that old, but considering that a generation is 20-30 years long, both of these can be considered ‘out of date’ for where I’m at in my life at this time. I have to strain to figure out a relevant application.
So I’m praying about writing a fresh devotional – but I need your help.
If I were to write a devotional today, with the purpose being that you come out having a stronger connection with God…
- What would YOU like to read in a devotional?
- What topics do you need more of in your spiritual life?
- Is there anything you would like to hear about?
Could you please let me know your answer?
(Pick one question, they’re basically the same, just worded a little differently.)

God says He is “the GREAT I AM”. You could delve into the many aspects of what that can mean to us. And the importance of reverencing Him in our everyday walk. (The world screams at us to go a different direction; a true believer will constantly be blessed as he recognizes who God is.)
I learn a lot from real life stories, from people’s experiences. I would love to hear stories from your life of where God taught you special lessons. And how you and God handled your “failures” to obey or follow through.
Life after crisis. How to heal the heart
It was great to hear from so many of you! Thank YOU so much for giving your insights. I appreciate you taking the time and sharing your heart.
Have a great rest of your summer. May the Lord surprise you with His goodness. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit…” Galatians 6

Returning to your first love when you know you’re backslidden.
I’d like to read about the move of God, also blessing our spirits to have dominion over our intellects; worship, and our assignments and destiny in our journey. Also strategies to get to our “expected end” or future destiny. Reviving dead dreams is another suggestion.
Kathleen, I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject: I hear people say repentance means to turn from your sin and go the other way. I think we have to have our mind renewed, and consider ‘How did my sin affect others…’ Do we realize we dishonor God? Jesus died because of our sins. Do we not have fear of God? I think we have to learn how to control our appetite for sin. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to sin no more. If that is in Scripture, then we can attain to it. He also said to be holy as I am holy.
I would like to see more on the Psalms since it is like talking to God and so much of the Psalms point to Jesus.
Thoughts on being a Christian mother & grandmother trying to win the LOST yet not sounding “goody two shoe” or perfect. I want my Family in Heaven but don’t want to “scare them off”.
purpose as I age
Abiding, intimacy with Jesus
Letting his voice speak truth and then walking in it
Resting in his greatness, enoughness, and love
It would be nice to teach on meditation today and prayer…. Knowing the difference between being still, and being quiet before the lord… and they that wait upon the lord … if we won’t wait on him in prayer.. we will wear out on words alone…
I do enjoy your e-mails and your updates you send in the mail about what God is doing where you are.
As for some topics I would definitely be interested in, would be about forgiveness from others who have deeply hurt me, although I was able to quickly forgive them and let it go. I always try to practice what the Bible says about this topic!!!
Thanks and God Bless You!!!
More about how to receive healing, understanding God’s will for my life in my senior years.
This devotional sounds so amazing, particularly because your writing is so tender in “Word for You”… I think Devo’s on loneliness and community building, finding purpose, I personally love stories that use OT stories and bring application from those. Whatever you write always feels fresh and relevant. ❤️
