Jesus gave you and me an amazing invitation:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
– Matthew 11
In my travels to S.E. Asia I often see sets of oxen yoked together, pulling a cart of supplies. From medieval times yokes were used to harness the strength of the animal(s) for the task at hand. Oxen. Camels. Horses.
In times of human slavery, yokes were used to control and announce ownership. The person in this situation understood they had a debt to pay before they could be free.
In our modern day you and I can be yoked up with many things. Our hard driven personality; an unhealthy relationship; our vulnerability toward addiction etc.
Here Jesus is telling us, “get yoked up with Me.” “Let’s walk side by side.” “Let’s do life together, as a team.”
The most amazing thing of all is that when He’s pulling with you, He’s also pulling for you. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Let’s be sure we respond to His invitation.
In His Love and mine,
Kathleen

great to receive this reminder Kathleen as my burdens have appeared to become increasingly heavier in the last while. With Jesus walking with me and pulling with me it does become lighter

Father, in the Name of Jesus, because we all desire to partner and co-labor with You, we humble ourselves under your mighty hand, submit and surrender to Your Yoke. Today our steps are ordered of You. Lead us to the people and places you would have us go as You prepare the ground as fertile soil. Amen
