Have you ever heard the verse in Proverbs that says, “Anxiety in the heart of a man weighs it down.” The Bible tells us not to be anxious, but have you ever experienced that once you start thinking about not being anxious, it makes you more anxious?

Corey Ten Boom has this great thought, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows. It empties today of its strengths.” Isn’t that true?

Here are five tips for you on how not to be anxious:

  1. Make time to cast all your cares on God.
  2. Water your soul in God’s Word; let the good stuff in.
  3. Give thanks; be specific, and either speak it out or write it down.
  4. Just begin praising God because God inhabits our praises and praise raises our vision.
  5. Let’s do what it says in Philippians 4, “Let your mind focus on what is true, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.” Because for the most part, your emotions will follow what your mind is focused on.

In closing, here are a few Bible verses for you and I:

“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you, He will never let the righteous fall.” (Psalm 55)

-“The Lord is good, a refuge in time of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:7)

-“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5)
