Dear friend,
For some reason God decided to attach the release of His power to the sound of your prayers.
In heaven the elders were, “…holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.” And those bowls were steaming with fragrance when the song of the elders proclaimed,
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
~ Revelations 5:8-9
Prayer is connected to Christ’s sacrifice and every thing His great love purchased.
When Jesus walked on the earth He said, “It is written, My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” ~ Mark 11:17
What nation are you praying for?
Immediately you should say the name of the nation you are living in. But is it possible that God has other assignments for you too?
And here's where the adventure begins, because your prayer can impact outcomes. You can intercept a disaster, see a suicide or homicide averted, or a person clutched by darkness be released. Prayer changes things. And God even makes us, “joyful in His house of prayer.”
Let me say a short word about our limitations. Never in human history have we had this much information flying at our windshields, so to speak. It’s too much. And it’s easy to shut down rather than be selective. Allow the Lord to guide you. Turn things OFF on your phone, computer and television. And focus on being IN TUNE WITH GOD.
1. Know what your assignments are. Just because you know about something doesn’t mean it’s your assignment.
2. Do what you can but not what you can’t.
3. When you feel compassion, take a step in that direction.
Some prayer assignments are long term. And sometimes you pray and weep or fast, and suddenly it’s done.
Listen to your Good Shepherd.
Take your place in prayer before His throne.
And remember, “Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees.” William Cowper.
