“As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.”
– Steve Maraboli
A bad thing happened on my last international trip. When I reached my destination, my luggage didn’t. It was jam packed with valuable things for a rugged road trip I was rolling into.
What was I going to do? Let’s face it, unexpected things happen, right?
Then the answer struck me. Before jumping into the fray of a frantic shopping spree I needed to do two things:
- I needed to chose to keep my focus and energy for my mission not this mishap.
- Though this incident poked a hole in the bottom of my bucket I wasn’t going to let it sink me.
What would you do? When things don’t go as planned, catch your breath, pray and take the next step. Don’t plop, flop, or stop.
You and I will face interruptions, disruptions and even eruptions. Keep going. The birds are still singing. The stars still glimmer at night. And Jesus is with you.
The luggage didn’t resurface. But I made a choice to preserve my strength and focus on my goals.
And because of this, I had an AMAZING trip.

I agree with all you said!
Dear Kathleen,
I am filled with Gods peace this morning after reading this word of encouragement. Thank you, and thanks and praise to our faithful God.
Thank you for your words of encouragements. Currently I am going through major things in my life. I don’t even know where I would be living. My prayers is hard sometime even reading God’s word is difficult to concentrate!. Due to the injuries. But I trust God and live one day at a time!.
I know God is sovereign!. I know God knows all what happened to me. God is good all the time!. Even when I don’t know what outcome result would be. But I trust He is good!.
Thank you!.
There have been times in my life why serving in the military that I thought. God is this too much for me. I know that you are there and looking over me. He said to me, Charles don’t look how big the mountain is, look how big I am to that mountain, just trust me to move it, and peace settle over me and I never loo at a mountain the same way, because I knew God would remove it, when testing time came!
Kathleen, a person absolutely has to learn how to persevere. God can lead us onward. Trouble will come! Hold tight to the faith and press on!
I am really appreciating your blog and WOW devotional. Thank you so much!
