A surprise rocket was fired this past week from Gaza, a territory that has been ruled by Islamic militant group, Hamas. In response, Israeli aircraft have bombed targets across the Gaza Strip. A tentative ceasefire was brokered early Tuesday, but the cross-border fighting continues. Let’s pray for the peace of Jerusalem, Israel, and all her people!

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure.” -Psalm 122:6

“When he (the Holy Spirit) comes He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment…” -John 16:8, NKJV

Lord, we come to you as the Covenant-Keeping God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Ishmael.

We pray for the violence that is happening between Israel and the Gaza Strip to stop. We decree “no loss of life.” And in the name of Jesus, we bind the devil who is attempting to steal, kill and destroy both Palestinians and Israelis. May Your angels be released to bring escapes from death and protection from harm.

Holy Spirit, we know that You are there and we ask that You would bring conviction and repentance to anyone who seeks to do evil. We pray for an overwhelming need to do what’s right among those who are making decisions in both communities. We ask that leaders will keep their word regarding ceasefires and that favor and blessing would come over those who seek peace (Matthew 5:9).

Father God, we remember the promise You made to Abraham’s descendants:
“… all peoples on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:3).” In confidence, we pray, that as You bless Israel, all others will receive the blessing through them: abundant and eternal life through the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.

In the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, Amen.
