Summer is the time for reading. For tossing yourself into a hammock with a good book. That’s why I want to ask you…
…do you use a daily devotional? The habit of a daily devotional is so helpful, it’s something you don’t want to miss. It keeps you strong and on course with the Lord. Daily-ness is a thing worth thinking about.
The daily devotional I’ve been using for the last couple years is:
Smith Wigglesworth Devotional
A couple other great choices are:
Come Away My Beloved by Frances J. Roberts.
My Upmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.
All 3 of these devotionals are available on amazon.com (if you click on the titles, it will take you to them.)
This summer embrace the habit of reading a daily devotional.
If you’re already doing this, leave a comment and inspire us.
We’d love to hear from you.
In His Love and mine,
Kathleen
This lesson touches my heart, in so many ways. I know he is always their, and waiting for me to reach out to him, and ask for his help and blessing. Every thing is in his time.
Yes, I agree daily devotionals have been a great help to me… I have been using the “Daily Bread” since I was in High School. Other devotionals used are “Everyday with Jesus” and “My utmost for His Highest” by Oswald Chambers.
I also recommend that the daily devotional should have a one-year bible reading plan. This helps a believer to read through the bible once every year!
I love reading My Utmost for His Highest! It is a deep daily conversation with our Lord! Thank you SO much for encouraging us in this/these daily devotional readings!
I have been using daily devotionals too for years. I like to switch it up so I’m not doing the same thing. I have read most of the above ones as well as ones from Beth Moore. I really like devotionals where I get to journal. But then there are times where God just has me read a scripture & I meditate on that. Right now I’ve been using First 15 that comes in my inbox each morning. I love it because it has a scripture, a worship song, then devotion and guided prayer time. Love to you! 💕
I connect with AW Tozer & CS Lewis through Gateway Bible online. Then there is a verse of the day from Gateway(seperate from Tozer & CS Lewis) that I do. Then I also use Youversion verse of the Day. I also add Merriam Webster’s, word of the day. I use a notebook to write them out. It seems to “stick better” for me.
Yes, my husband and I read scripture together every morning.
We also read Jesus calling before breakfast each morning as well as your devotion ,7Kathleen which is always spiritually uplifting. Thank you
I read my Bible every morning and get my devotional from it. Therefore,I don’t need any other book to tell me what to do. God’s Word is all we need to read! Why read a book someone else has written. They can change the Word of God to dislead you. I say stick to your Bible and be Blessed!
I have been in the habit of daily devotions for many years and I have found them to be so helpful! They encourage me as well as remind me of other needs in this world to be in prayer for! God bless you for your very wonderful ministry!
I too use daily devotionals. Lots of times they remind me of my sisters in Christ and family members. When that happens, I take pictures of it with my iPhone and text it to them to encourage them.
